FAQs and the small print
.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Who can take part?
• Anyone from any country over the age of 18 can take part in a Greenrock event.
• All events require a recent doctor’s certification of sound health, unless otherwise agreed by Greenrock.
• You must be the holder of a valid passport for your country of residence.
• You must have relevant personal travel insurance with sufficient worldwide medical cover.
Safety and logistics
Greenrock’s objective is to inspire and test you whilst ensuring the smooth running of an event and most importantly, your safety. That is why we always guarantee the following:
• Every trip/route has been scouted by Greenrock staff and is unique; even if it is based in an established tourist destination the route will not follow conventional or established paths.
• There is always a minimum of one Greenrock team member for every ten participants on a trip.
• There will always be one fully qualified doctor or nurse and all the back-up team are qualified first-aiders.
• Road bike rides are always supported by two (or more as numbers dictate) vehicles; one for luggage and the other(s) providing space for injured or tired customers and their bikes.
• At least one person competent in bicycle maintenance is present on each bike ride.
• The back-up team on walking trips carry water pumps to ensure that everyone remains hydrated if personal water supplies run low.
• All back-up team members are always willing to carry additional kit for those who are tired.
What’s included / not included?
INCLUDED International flights (exceptions such as the Tour of the Haggis are marked), your visas (if applicable), accommodation, lunch and snacks on cycling days, vehicle support, transfers to and from the airport at the beginning and end of the ride.
EXCLUDED Your travel insurance (this is compulsory), meals on non-riding / walking days and sightseeing entry fees.
Your financial protection
We are in the process of getting licenses from AITO (the Association of Independent Tour Operators) and ATOL (the Air Travel Organisers’ License). ATOL will protect your money should anything happen to your flight and tour (if you book your flight through us), and AITA will protect you if you book just a tour through us.
In the meantime we use ATOL-bonded travel agents so you remain protected.
