Cycle chalet – train like a pro!

.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

During the summer we run fully-supported cycle tours from our chalet in the ski resort of Les Monts d’Olmes, high up in the French Pyrenees. Come and stay for a week or a long weekend and let us look after you while you discover this fascinating region and get your legs good and strong. The chalet sleeps 8 people.

Self-catering apartment (one week)

You can rent the chalet for just £295 for a week – perfect for a break in the south of France with friends and family. This region is packed with history, outdoors activities and fabulous restaurants and markets – with a rental car there really is something to do for everyone which is good news for those who aren’t into cycling.

Fully-supported cycle weekends / minibreaks

We also offer fully-supported 4-day cycle minibreaks from £185 per person. We’ll pick you up from the nearest airport (either Toulouse or Carcassonne depending on the airline you choose), give you supper and introduce you to the region. The next two days will start off with a home-cooked breakfast followed by a full day of cycling and then another home-cooked meal be full cycling with home-cooked breakfast and supper served in the chalet, and lunch a smorgasbord of baguettes, fruit and snacks served from the backup vehicle.

The chalet

Greenrock’s chalet is divided into three apartments, and we rent out the best apartment for cycle tours during the summer.

Downstairs

There are two bedrooms downstairs: one with three single beds, one with two single beds which can be pushed together to form a double, and a third with a comfy double sofa bed. There is also a WC.

Upstairs

Upstairs there is a kitchen with four-ring gas hob, gas oven, a massive fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, raclette machine and coffee-maker. There’s a large sitting room / dining room with TV, DVD player (and lots of DVDs) and books on the region. The dining table can seat up to eight people.

Outside

A balcony surrounds the chalet on both floors and there is a large wild garden in front of the property. The main entrance is to the rear of the property, where there is space to park a couple of cars.

Getting to the chalet

Air   The closest airport is Carcassonne which is served by Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) from London Stansted with two flights a day. This airport is 1 hr 5 mins from the chalet by car. Toulouse airport is served by Easyjet (www.easyjet.co.uk) and British Airways (www.ba.com) from London Gatwick with plenty of flights each day. Toulouse airport is about 1 hr and 30 mins from the chalet. Both airports offer car hire from all the major companies (Hertz, Avis, Europcar etc).

Car   The journey from the London area to the house is around 800 miles (1300km) using any port in Northern France. You could also sail from Portsmouth and Plymouth to Santander or Bilbao on a 24 hour crossing, which gives a shorter drive to the house of around 250 miles (400km).

Train   To use the fast TGV routes to Toulouse or Perpignan you need to hub through Paris which can take some time.
